The Manhattan Short Film Festival wants UK Shorts for this year's Festival
to be held inside Union Square Park NYC on September the 18th 2004. Once a year
thousands of New Yorkers gather inside the park to view a selection of short
films from around the world, where the eventual winner is awarded all the necessary
equipment to create a feature film.
The festival has an early deadline of March 1st 2004, with its regular

Pulse - digital shorts In partnership with UK Film Council, Film London
launches its third low budget digital shorts scheme for new talent in the London
region. Film London is seeking proposals for digitally produced, low budget
narrative films between 1 and 10 minutes in length. We are seeking new filmmakers
whose ambition is to tell stories in groundbreaking ways.
Eight films will be commissioned. The budget range is £2,000-£10,000
depending on the nature of the project. The running time should be between 1
& 10 minutes.

KODAK SHORT FILM SHOWCASE:
Kodak is inviting short films to be submitted to the 12th Kodak Short Film Showcase
that will be held in April 2004 at BAFTA London.
If your film is short-listed you will be invited to attend the event and screen
your film. The winner will be selected on the night by an industry audience.
The winning Producer and Director will be invited to join Kodak on an expenses
paid trip to The Dinard British Film Festival 2004. The winning short film will
be screened at this prestigious festival.
Criteria for entry:
1. Originated on Kodak film stock. 2. Running time of 15-minutes or less. 3.
Completed in the last 18 months. 4. You must have a 16mm or 35mm print available.

Talent Circle and Avid have joined forces to launch Super Shorts, a
nationwide search to find great films that are no longer than two minutes. With
only up to two minutes to tell a story filmmakers are challenged to find ways
to captivate the audience in a short space of time. Entry is free and open to
all UK residents aged sixteen and above. There will be prizes for all 10 finalists
and an awards ceremony in early 2004 to showcase the entries and announce the
overall winner.

Raindance / The Nokia Ultra-Short Filmmaking Competition http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokiashorts/
Can you think up a fantastic idea and make it work in just 15 seconds? You think
you can? Then read on.
We're not looking for technical perfection - your film can be made using the
most basic equipment available on the high street. All we want is a great idea
well told.
The 10 best entries will be shortlisted by a panel of filmmakers and industry
experts. The shortlisted films will then be put online, where the public will
vote for the ultimate winner.
The 10 shortlisted films will also be screened at the 11th Raindance Film Festival
and at the British Independent Film Awards in November.
The winner of Nokia Shorts 2003 will get to write and direct a full-length short
film (up to 10 minutes) - funded by Nokia and produced by Raindance. Plus, Raindance
will put the winner through an intensive training programme on all aspects of
filmmaking. The two runners-up will also get trained. Entries must be in
by Monday 1st September 2003.

Entries are now being accepted for the Chattahoochee Film and Video Competition, to be held Sept. 20, 2003 at the Columbus Museum in Columbus, Georgia, USA. A first place award of $750 will be awarded. Entries will be judged by Eddie King, star of The Accountant, winner of the 2001 Academy Award(r) for Best Short Live Action Film. College and graduate level student filmmakers are encouraged to enter. Entries must be submitted on VHS tape, NTSC standard. Entry fee is $15. Winners and most interesting entries will be screened at the 300-seat Patrick Theatre at the Columbus Museum on Saturday, Sept.20, 2003.
